CRAFTIVISM DAY: Play With a Purpose!
May 14, 9am-3pm
LVAL Center (8am setup)
Congregation-Wide!
Sponsored by the Social Action Committee

  • Craftivism is a portmanteau word combing “crafts” and “activism.” In line with our Principle #7 (care for the earth), on May 14 we will be making items that use reclaimed materials and we will be creating items that can be reused. This fun day will be a chance to put your hands where your values are!
  • We will be making items for the Spring Fling Online Sale: reusable holiday gift bags, bamboo flatware in take-along pouches, doggie pull toys from recycled T-shirt “yarn,” “Tic-Tac-Toe to Go” games, and popsicle-stick and cork trivets.
  • We need folks of all ages; there will be things children can help with.
  • If you are a sewer, bring your machine and we have lots of things that need minimal stitching. There will also be little rocks to paint for the tic-tac-toe games, things to glue (trivets from corks), t-shirt strips to stretch, and more. All materials will be supplied.
  • We hope to provide lunch (individually packaged items such as cans of seltzer, mini-bags of chips, wraps) as long as we have the go-ahead from the Pandemic Safety Team. Paper goods and tableware will be supplied. Hand sanitizers will be available.
  • Dora has volunteered to take charge set-up/breakdown and kitchen; we need some volunteers to help. If you are not “crafty” and wish to attend/help, this is the job for you!
  • At this point we will ask folks to be masked and vaccinated, although that may change depending on pandemic metrics. There will be extra masks available on site.
  • Please contact Nancy W. or Karen H. with how you would like to help.
