The Human Cost of America’s Drone War – Beth Taylor, Presenter

Join us for a screening and discussion of “Nation Bird”, a documentary by Sonia Kennebeck. This 30 min. version of the film follows the dramatic journey of two whistleblowers that are determined to break the silence about America’s drone war. Plagued by guilt over participating in the killing of faceless people in foreign countries, they decide to speak out publicly, despite possible consequences.

Julie Brooks Memoir: “Uncertain Survival”

In her recently published memoir, Julie evokes the horrors of the Second World War as seen from a young child of six, when Russian troops advanced on her home.That terror became nearly unbearable when she learned that her mother was determined to kill her family rather than have them fall into Russian hands. Although told from her perspective as an adult, “Uncertain Survival” depicts the ensuing calamities through the eyes of a child undergoing the experience.
